In Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, a municipal water supply project encompasses over a hundred water wells, serving countless households. This application presents unique requirements for an automated control system, distinct from typical industrial environments:
1. Large Scale and Wide Distribution
With over a hundred water wells spread across various towns—often separated by several kilometers—the project involves a significant volume of equipment covering a vast area. This necessitates a solution capable of large-scale deployment and unified operation and maintenance (O&M).
2. High Reliability Requirements
Control cabinets are frequently installed outdoors or in basic, unconditioned enclosures, where they are exposed to harsher temperature and humidity conditions. Consequently, the control system must be exceptionally reliable and stable.
3. Autonomy and Controllability
As the water supply system is critical to the safety and daily lives of the public, a large-scale deployment across more than a hundred wells requires more than just the performance specifications of individual devices. It demands a mature, standardized, and replicable solution that ensures long-term stability and manageable overall costs.
Developing a Standardized Control Series
Huceen has leveraged its H7-1200 series PLC to deliver a comprehensive, standardized technical solution.
Each water well is equipped with a standardized electrical control cabinet, featuring an H7-1200 series 1214C CPU as the primary controller. This unit communicates via a Profinet bus with IM155 series remote I/O modules, enabling distributed field signal acquisition and equipment control.
The H7-1200 1214C CPU manages water pump start/stop operations, well-wide logic interlocking, data processing, and communication with both local touch-screen interfaces and the central dispatch center.
Operating under a unified Profinet bus architecture, the project utilizes two standardized configuration templates, tailored to the specific I/O requirements and control complexity of each individual well:
Standard Well Configuration
Designed for wells equipped with a single water pump and basic monitoring requirements for liquid levels and pressure.
Integrated Well Configuration
Designed for more complex wells equipped with multiple water pumps (requiring rotational operation), interconnected valve systems, and the need to monitor a broader range of pipeline network parameters.

Enhanced Deployment Efficiency
By implementing unified electrical schematics, standardized cabinet layouts, and a consistent programming framework, the entire workflow—from design and assembly to programming and commissioning—has been streamlined. Engineers only need to make minor parameter adjustments to accommodate the specific process requirements of individual wells, significantly shortening delivery cycles.
Controllable O&M Costs
Operations and maintenance (O&M) personnel need to master only one set of control logic to handle troubleshooting and routine maintenance for all well sites. Spare parts management is also simplified; the entire project requires only a common inventory of spare parts. A single technician, equipped with one set of tools and a unified spare parts list, can effectively manage O&M for over 100 well sites.
Long-term Reliable Operation
The modular design of the H7-1200 series PLC features channel-level diagnostics. Its analog modules offer built-in filtering and anti-interference capabilities, while relay output modules can directly drive 220VAC loads. These features are well-suited for standard industrial control loops, ensuring stable operation even within the complex electromagnetic environments often found in rural or township water supply systems.

The large-scale application of the H7-1200 series PLC in municipal and township water supply projects serves as a proven testament to the stability and reliability of Huceen products.
